Continuing The Drawing Center’s tradition of exhibitions drawn from notable private collections, curator Olivia Shao has selected approximately fifty works on paper from the Burgers’ expansive holdings of more than 1,000 works on paper, to construct a focused visual essay on shared historical, poetic, and philosophical concerns, with Hong Kong and New York as twin points of reference and Eastern thought and Western philosophy as its guiding frameworks.
