Several key examples of Pope.L’s performances are on show in a specially designed screening room. Many involve the artist’s own physical endurance, including his first public street performance, Times Square Crawl a.k.a. Meditation Square Pieces (1978), in which Pope.L undertook an arduous crawl along West 42nd Street wearing a pinstripe suit with a bright yellow square of cloth sewn onto the back.
