This exhibition was organized by the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. Before Hollywood dominated the film industry, Florida was the hot spot for movie executives. With our warm weather, sunny skies, convenient location, cheap labor, and diverse scenery, Florida quickly became a frontrunner in the early film business in the first part of the 20 th century. Jacksonville in particular seemed a logical choice as a capital.
